Exploring business opportunities in Nigeria’s tailoring and fashion, cassava and sesame seed sectors

Dear colleagues and partners,

we would like to warmly invite you to a webinar organised by the International Trade Centre (ITC) under the ARRIVES project. ARRIVES – Assisting the Reintegration of Returnees through Integrated Vocational and Entrepreneurship Support – aims to support the reintegration of voluntary returnees into the Nigerian economy. Targeting Nigerians who have returned from abroad, particularly Germany, the project focuses on creating sustainable livelihoods through entrepreneurship, skills development and economic empowerment.

To participate, please mark the following date and time in your calendar:

Date: 23 September 2026

Time: 11 – 12:00 CET / 10 – 11:00 WAT

To register for the webinar, please click the link at the top right which says “Sign up here”. All external participants, please register as guests. Once registered you can join the meeting via the Agenda or Stream tab!

The ARRIVES team at ITC has produced three sector profiles that are relevant to members of vulnerable groups to answer sector-specific questions on opportunities, challenges, required financing, and necessary skills, and provide examples of support mechanisms for successful entrepreneurial ventures. With this knowledge, individuals interested in entering the sector can not only choose ventures that better match their interests and qualifications, but also have a greater chance of business success, having more realistic expectations. During this webinar three key Nigerian sectors – tailoring and fashion, cassava and sesame seed – will be presented.

The webinar aims to:

  • Share main findings from ITC research, in particular those from field research carried out with the support of local experts.

  • Raise awareness of entrepreneurship opportunities for returning migrants, highlighting the benefits of sustainable economic reintegration.

  • Provide insights about the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in selected sectors, and receive practical guidance from sector experts on ways to best support and mentor disadvantaged people in starting their own businesses.

  • Explore opportunities for cooperation in capacity-building measures, entrepreneurship promotion and research, with an emphasis on creating local ownership and establishing partnerships with Nigerian ecosystem actors.

We look forward to your participation in this exciting event. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email at sfederolf@intracen.org if you have any questions or require further information!

Kind regards,

Sandra
